CORONAVIRUS, COVID-19 Information
A famous writer, Maya Angelou said, ‘You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.’ We are incredibly fortunate that our Holy Trinity ‘family’ is such a strong, caring and supportive community who can all rely on one another. Please do keep in touch with and help one another, we will send out updates and keep you as informed as we possibly can.
We have throughout the pandemic followed Government Guidance and remained open to support our community in the very best way that we can. At school we now maintain a Prevention and Management of Outbreaks of Respiratory Infection (including COVID-19) in school to ensure safe and best practice. The Risk Assessment document is a live document that will be constantly reviewed in-line with national and regional advice from the Government, Public Health England, Diocese, Northumberland County Council and Unions as well as other appropriate bodies. If you would like to view our risk assessment it can be found here.
In 2020-21 the school received the coronavirus catch up premium for the academic year and details of how the money was spent and the impact can be found here.
General Guidance for Parents and Carers
The approach to managing COVID-19 has changed and advice is to take similar measures that you would for other respiratory infections.
Children with mild symptoms of respiratory illness
Respiratory infections are common in children and young people, particularly during the winter months. For most children and young people, these illnesses, including COVID-19, will not be serious, and they will soon recover following rest and plenty of fluids. Attending education is hugely important for children and young people’s health and their future. Children and young people with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or mild cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to attend their education or childcare setting.
Feeling unwell and high temperature
Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and where possible avoid contact with other people. They can go back to their education or childcare setting when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend. All children and young people with respiratory symptoms should be encouraged to cover their
mouth and nose with a disposable tissue when coughing and/or sneezing and to wash their hands after using or disposing of tissues.
If a child tests positive for Covid-19
Whilst testing is no longer recommended, we should all try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if there are symptoms and either:
- have a high temperature
- do not feel well enough to go to work, school, childcare, or do your normal activities
You can go back to your normal activities when you feel better or do not have a high temperature.
If your child has mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or mild cough, and they feel well enough, they can go to school or childcare.
The importance of good personal hygiene, including regular hand-washing, to prevent the spread of infection continues to be stressed at school and home.
